I’ve been chuggin along on my Sweetwater socks. I knit the first heel on the first sock. Progress. Everything else I’m knitting is pretty much in the same place. In an effort to knit a heel as I go, I tried out a toe up gusset and short row heel. I like it alot, but I feel it’s better suited for not self striping yarn.
This is a differant short row thing than the Pricilla Gibson-Roberts heel. This one is all decrease short rows, due to the gusset. I definately like the process of it.
I also sent out my sockapaloooza sock today! A day ahead of schedule, but she lives pretty far, and I wanted her to have them this week. Yay.
I think it looks good. Heels with striped yarn are always tricky, but this one looks very nice.
I like the look of the heel. Any more info on your short row technique? I suck at wrapped short-rows and tried the Sherman heel over the weekend. (It worked great, except for the fact my row gauge was way off, therefore the heel was too short.)
Your yarn colors are great. I love to dye, too. I think your heel looks good Do you need to pick up stitches when you do that kind of heel? I really hate picking up stitches!
I like heels that stripe, but then that’s me. The colors are really pretty.
Can’t wait to meet you in MD!

I like that heel, actually, and the stripes are so pretty!!
Such stripey goodness! I’ve aonly attempted a short row heel once or twice and ripped them both. I’m more a flap girl myself. But that one looks nice.
That’s a neat heel! Where did you find the instructions?
I love the look. I am a heel flap girl as well but I think yours look fabulous!!
That heel looks good to me! BTW…Have I told you just how much I luv that SWEETWATER yarn? Love.it. I do.
I’ve never seen a heel like that before… where would I find instructions on it?
The Heel itself looks great…although I do have to agree with you that the striping looks kinda iffy. Personally I am not a perfectionist so it would bother me, but if you are I suggest a good old frogging session on the heel. The stitching of the heel is pretty darn cool.
