Love that Tweed

After a 6 week hiatus or so, I finally figured out where I was on the sunrise back. It has a strange rate of decrease for the raglan shaping on the back, and I wasn’t sure at which point I left it at. Bonus points for not taking note. I stopped working on it when I went on vacation, and now that the weather is all warm, I figured I’d finish it. So I whipped out the rest of the back on Tuesday night, and started the right front.

Did I ever tell you how much I love blocking, and blocked knitting for that matter? Well I do. I love making a crumply crappy looking piece of knitting into a lovely, soft shape of fabric. I checked my gauge(!) before I blocked, and was right on the pattern gauge(!) after blocking my row gauge grew about 1/2 a row, so I’m happy. This Lana Grossa Royal Tweed I’m using has fabulous bloom after blocking, and is surprisingly light weight.
The real reason I want to finish this is because I’ve been twitchy to knit Eunny’s Deep V Vest. I started swatching. Whoops. My intarsia is terribly tight, so I always go up a needle size or 2, we’ll see what happens after I get the swatch blocked. If anybody out there is keeping track of my WIP’s, don’t tell me, I don’t want to know.

I’ll distract you with my new shoes. Normally I live in Flip Flops all summer long. The Old Navy ones especially. Occasionally I like to mix it up. Remind me to show you my Green CowGirl boots sometime. Mmmm, green cowgirl boots….

Chuck also appreciates the shoes- those are his fluffy mittens to the left.

For all you animal lovers out there, I got 3 words for you:
Teacup. Yorkshire. Terrier.

This little guy belongs to a friend of mine. His name is Ryder, he weighs 3 lbs. Doesn’t he look like he’s smiling?- he’s 6 months, and absolutely charming. He’s a lady killer alright.

I’ll also be posting Vesper Yarn around, oh, let’s say 8:30, 9pm-ish tonight.

I think Chuck is wondering if those shoes come in his size.

i can’t tell you how many times i’ve drooled over those very flats! if we ever meet, you should waterproof them first.

I’m glad I checked your entry today. I see you’ll be listing some yarn tonight and I was thrilled. Then I read on and saw little Ryder. I have a yorkie – I call him the giant yorkie(Chase) who is 12 pounds. My friend is looking to get a yorkie and I had to show her Ryder. She agrees – definitely a lady killer!

That jacket is really coming along! I love flats and those are really nice.I tried to make the picture bigger so I could see who made them 🙂 Gosh I think Yorkies are tiny the regular way but that Ryder! What a smile. Makes me want a dog!!

By the time I got here a bit after 9pm…they yarn was all gone. Isn’t that wonderful?!?!

  12. Marion says:

  13. Jenny says:

Julia, that tweed yarn is gorgeous!

I came to your etsy store but I could NOT click fast enough before someone snatched up your yarn! Wow, you are popular!

  14. Lisa says:

I blinked last night for 2 seconds and your yarn was all gone! I can’t believe how quickly that stuff sells out! I’m making the Deep V Argyle Vest… beware of your gauge. Many of us in the Vest-Along (www.vestalong.blogspot.com) have come out with mini-dresses because our row gauge was dismally off. She calls for a DK weight merino, but unless you are a super-duper tight knitter, I might recommend looking for a sport weight. Check out the knitalong, and my site for my recent adventures with the Argyle Vest… Happy knitting!

I got my “Big Pink Cookie” sock yarn this week, just when I needed it the most. I know, you call it Neopolitan, but really? Big Pink Cookie. It is PERFECT. I looooooooove it. It will be on the needles soon. You ROCK!

  17. Beth S. says:

My Tartan arrived and it is fan-freaking-tastic. I am SO not worthy!

  18. elaine says:

so…i’m dying to get your yarn-it’s the only exception i’ve allowed myself to my yarn diet for this year. but i can’t seem to get to the afterhours postings because of, well, life (aka, 2 kids, husband, dog, house, work, yadda yadda yadda). any chance you’ll do another “work’ time sale (m-f during the day)? it’s the only time i seem to be able to sit at a terminal hitting refresh every 30 seconds without major interruptions! 🙂

your color combos are amazing-keep up the good work!
