The first of March just makes my day. No more January! No more February! We are on our way to spring! And summer! And in just about 3 months, we’ll be welcoming a new little member of our family.

We got snow here, too. Not nearly as much as the northeast, but enough for it to be pretty. It will be warm enough to melt in the next couple of days, and that is just fine by me!

January seemed to crawl by for me, I can’t quite believe it’s over. I am not a fan of winter months, so I’m combating it with some bright quilting. I’ve got some serious knitting ennui going on, not motivated by current projects, and not wanting to add new stuff to the WIP basket either. So quilting!

6 pairs of handknit socks for my Husband’s Christmas gift. I was shooting for 12 in 2012, but oh well. I like more diversity in my handknits! 2012 was alright. I expect 2013 to be more of the same.

Growing in my family, there was never a tradition of Christmas cookie baking. My parents each run their own small business, and to this day are super busy people. Now, I love to bake, so for my little family, I am starting the tradition. I am giving most of our baking away to the neighbors, for me I guess it’s in the fun of making, not so much in the eating! I have never made cut out sugar cookies before this year, and I am finding it tricksy! I learn so much of what to, and not to do in each batch! I aspire to thick, soft sugar cookies with hard royal icing decoration. For now, cookies with glaze and sprinkles suits me just fine!
