A Snippet.

First, you should all know I fired my photo assistant. He decided on the spot he’d rather do modeling work. He refused to leave the shoot, and had to be ejected.

This is the resulting piece from the swatch I brought to Rhinebeck that got fondled by many of you knitters there.

These are the fronts. (Obviously) The first section is knit in this great cabley/eyelet-y stitch pattern, and then a few inches from beginning the armscyes, the fairisle part starts. I have to hand it to Jodi, this is a really well written pattern, and each of the two charts are very easy to memorize, and I’m loving knitting with Whiskey.
You can find the pattern here.

Did I mention the gauge is 7 st/ in on US 4’s? Which equals a long time to knit? Yup. I haven’t cast on the back yet, but I’m feeling very close to being done now, sort of. Just the back, and the hood, and some button bands…..

Runagogo: 60!!!!
No chocolate for me: 29 days
Spring? 50…

Whisky is looking good! Way to gogo on the runagogo and the nochocagogo. I don’t know if I could go without chcocolate so long.

A friend of mine had some Whiskey yarn at Knit Nite last night… it is great stuff! and this pattern is a good one too! By Jodi! I bought the book because I liked it so much. Yours looks great!

  3. Laurie says:

    Nice! Good progress, for sure.

Impressed with runagogo and health. Hard to do.

I have a very happy memory of fondling that swatch, and I’m most impressed with how beautifully it’s turning out. I’m even more impressed with how long you’ve gone without chocolate. It would probably do me a world of good to give up chocolate and go running, though I think at this point I would collapse if i ran two blocks. Way to go!

I like knitting with whiskey … sorry different topic.

Jodi’s Whisky looks lovely – I’ll have to hunt down the pattern!

  6. stacey says:

that looks wonderful – could you post the name of the book you got it from again? I’d love to see the whole sweater. That is ambitious at that gauge – I give you credit!

love the spring countdown – I can’t wait!

  7. Michelle says:

Ohhh, that swatch. And yet, the yummy swatch doesn’t hold a candle to that gorgeous front. It’s so purty!

  8. jenn says:

Gorgeous, Julia. I can’t wait to see the final product. I so have to make that sweater.

  9. Juno says:

I’m obsessed with whiskey. Every time I’ve seen it I’ve just stared at it mesmerized by the texture and depth of color. But tiny yarn.

  10. Cheryl says:

I remember that swatch! i love the front, it’s looking great.

  11. Arleta says:

That’s great. Keep at it! The running and the knitting. 🙂

  12. Jasmin says:

    Awww, I love your model!

  13. Chris says:

    It looks SO cool.

Heh, ejected from the shoot?? How did THAT go?

  14. Knitography says:

That is lovely! What a punishing gauge though! I’m not sure I love it enough to put myself through that, but good for you and your perseverance!

  15. Amy says:

    Neat neat neat!!!!

And I love small yarns. I really should get me some of that Whiskey.

  16. carol says:

Beautiful swatch! And the model isn’t bad either!

  17. I can see why he didn’t want to move! Great job on your Wiskey sweater, and your running!
Is it as cold down in Pittsburgh as it is up here near DuBois? Its 8 degree’s outside!!!

  18. jodi says:

This is looking lovely so far, Julia. I’m excited to see it on you, it’s the first one I’ve seen around the web (not so easy to find out who’s knitting things when they don’t have proper names!).

I love the colour range of this yarn, and the subtle variations in the flecks of colour. But this gauge nearly killed me; this is the sweater that ate up my entire spring break last year, and I was sleep-deprived, crying and aching by the end of it, with little pieces of ben gay strips all over my hands.
