From Detroit

Well folks, I finally got my home internet back. Just in time to leave for Detroit for Thanksgiving. Literally. Ten minutes before I chucked the suitcase into the car, I installed it so the Boyfriend could surf around while I’m gone. But up in Detroit, It’s all wireless all the time!
I come up here to hang out with the fam for a few days, we started a new tradition last year, of leaving for Toronto Thanksgiving morning, eating our catered Turkey, and shopping all over that great city. We came back on Sunday, and I’m leaving for Pittsburgh tomorrow.
Needless to say, dyeing is on hold until my return, but before I left I sent a wee order to
kpixie

There’s been plenty of knitting on this trip! Almost one secret holiday sock down, one to go! I inserted the heel last night while watching a disapointing Steelers loss to the Indy Colts. So sad. They even had Big Ben back.

Also plenty of yarn shop visiting! I finally got to vistit Lettuce Knit in Toronto, It’s teeny tiny! I had no idea! I picked up some fab fleece artist hand dyed wool slivers to spin up. I love all the fleece artist colorways. I also make it a point to visit Romni Wools when I’m up there, usually on the way out of town. That place is huge! I swear they carry everything ever spun or unspun, it not all that well organized, but if your willing to dig, it’s usually worth it. In the basement they have all kinds of spinning fibers, and many, many cones of yarn for weaving or knitting, and the largest, hands down, sale section this knitter has ever seen!

I’ll be dyeing this coming weekend, photos of knitting progress when I get back to Pittsburgh.

Yarn!

A quick update, as I still do not have home Internet access. (grumble grumble grumble)

My Majestic sweater as been divided, and the front finished, just a back, 2 sleeves some edging and a zipper to go. Sure, It’ll be finished for Thanksgiving, sure.

I had myself a busy dye weekend, so another shipment of Vesper Sock yarn is off to Kpixie as of this afternoon. Everybody say Yay!

Hi Sock Pal!!!

So I’m in the process of switching my ISP at home, so I have no internet, which sucks cause I’m online alot, so now I have to check everything from work. *Sigh*
but hopefully I’ll have everything back up Thursday or Friday.

Anyways.

Okay Holiday Sock Pal, these are my answers to the questions:

1. What are your foot measurements?
Let me get the tape measure……
Okay,
9.25″ from tip of toe to back of heel.
8″ Circumference around toe line.
9″ Circumference around my ankle

2. Do you have a favorite sock yarn?
I love it all! I’ve never tried cotton, so I like the wools and superwashes just fine.
I love Koigu, but as socks they wear out fast for me.

3. Is there a specific pattern you favor?…lace or ribbed?
When I knit for myself, I either knit plain or ribbed. I just think it goes faster.
But any pattern you choose or care to try out should be just fine. As an afterthought, I usually knit an afterthought heel. It looks just like the short row heel, but uses less yarn. I have some favorite sock books, I like the new, ” Knitting Vintage Socks”, and “Socks, socks, socks” is a fun one.

4. What colors do you prefer? Do you like solids or stripes?
I love all colors!!! I really dig Greens right now. Like grass greens, and limey colors. I’m getting into Turquoise though, and Autumn colors are one of my favorite pallettes. guess I like Self Striping….. (hehehe)

5. Do you have any allergies to a specific fiber?
Nope, no allergies here!

6. Holiday that you usually celebrate?
I celebrate Christmas, but have no real christmas tradition to speak of, aside from being with my fam. If you don’t feel like knitting in Red and Green, I won’t be offended.

I think that’s all. If you’ve got any questions, just email me.
Hopefully another post with Photos some time this week!

Majestic Hutchison

Yes, There’s Knitting! This is the Karabella Majestic Pullover thing I’ve been working on. I started it a week ago yesterday, and I can’t put it down! I’m using Rowan Kid Classic (an all time fav!) in Crush. I just started the 3rd skein, and am about 30 rows shy of fininshing the yoke. This is thing is worked top down, in the round, but when you get to the armpits you divide and work the front back and arms seperately. One major mod, I eliminated the front center cable, and put in garter stitch. Why? Cause I likes me a good zip up cardie, that’s why! I’m going to steek the front, work some bands up each side, and install a zipper! Mwahahaha….

Also in the news…. This lovely pattern book arrived yesterday! If you haven’t ordered one, go now, this thing is so cool! It’s Jess Hutchison’s “Unusual Toys for you to Knit and Enjoy”. All her patterns are cute, not to mention freakin adorable! This reviewer gives two thumbs up.
I just have to resist the urge to drop the karabella thing for a robot……

Wicked Stitches just started signups for her “Holiday Knits Sox Exchange” I’m so excited, this will be my first exchange-y thing, what with being a new blogger and all. Thanks Wendy, for posting about it.

As for your regularly scheduled Vesper Sock Yarn update, I sent off close to 30 skeins to kpixie today, they’ll probly be online Tuesday or Wednesday.

Dudes…

See through. Orange. Chibi. Whoa.
If I can’t get my hands on a pink chibi, I totally got the next best thing.

Working hard

Well. I had fully intended to shoot my knitting and get it up here, and well, I couldn’t stop knitting. I’m working on this awesome Karabella pattern in some stashed kid classic, and I can’t put it down! i’ve been busy like crazy in the photo world, another shoot with one of my best buds today, out on another farm (two in one week i swear this never happens!)
this time with horses! Fun Stuff.

In Vesper sock news, another big order to ship out to kpixie by the end of the week!
