In the Works

So many things to post about! Where to begin!?!
I’ll start with a big fat hug and thank you to the lovely Cara, who was very generous in gifting me with this,

an awesome skein of Socks that Rock, in the colorway Country Clare, and a pack of her gorgeous photo cards. Thanks Cara!
I really couldn’t have pick a more perfect color. I loves me the greens. I’m slating this skein for my first Jaywalkers. I’ve got to get on that bandwagon!
It seems like there’s so much I want to knit these days, I have most of the yarn I need, i just need to knit faster! So, with my stash already being out of control, I’m silently joining the Stashalong. Only because I missed signups for the real thing. No more yarn purchases until Maryland. I’m determined to get there this year. Determined. I’m saving money and making plans. If I have to push my car there myself, I’m going. I know it’s months and months away, but I’ve never been. So I’m going. So There.
Remind me to document my stash one day. Not only is there bins of yarn but fiber galore! I have to make a dent in my spinning fiber, so I can buy more. My rules are no more yarn purchases, unless I run out of the same said yarn for the current project. No more sock yarn. I could spend the next 18 months happily knitting the sock yarn stash. I can by patterns, however, and notions if I need them, and I won’t cause I have enough. Oh, and books if they help alleviate the stash.
I want to get my hands on Barbara Walkers “Knitting from the Top Down.” I keep meaning to order it over at Amazon. I checked the LYS, no copies in a 30 mile radius.
I will finish this poor sweater,

I finished the sleeves before Xmas. I needed a quick project. I try to look at each piece of a sweater as a mini project. I mostly knit the sleeves first, because I hate them and I need to get them out of the way. It’s a Sirdar pattern leaflet. #8459. Ordered from Patternworks.
I also have enough tweedy yarns for two Rogues, I’ve knit two in the past, both cardigan versions. One for me, one for my sister. Never use Patons Classic wool in a garment. Mine pilled like a MotherFugger the first time I wore it. A real tragedy. I loved that sweater.
Oh, and I need to wrap up those Slipper socks. I stalled at the toe because I had to get my hands on the leather soles to judge size. i need to finish before I forget what I did, or loose the notes.
Ya Know, and all the time Dyeing up yarn. I’m getting a big lot ready to sell. It may go to Kpixie, but it’ll probly be Etsy. I’ll give you all a heads up on the day before I post it all. I have 3 new colorways, and I’m working on a limited run Valentines colorway.
I love how the entire colorway changes if I change just one of the 3 colors, or change the shade of one.
I’ll post new color photos soon.

Hon, if you start spinning some more of your delightful Vesper sock yarn, I will be happy to fund a nice chunk of that Maryland trip! 🙂

I would get knitting from the top down from knit picks, most of the time amazon is sold out or they make you buy it through other people.
That STR is lovely, can’t wait to see your jaywalkers

    Gorgeous STR!!! That Cara. 🙂

Oh, bummer about your Rogue! What yarn are you planning to knit it with this time?

I love love love those Socks That Rock–man, I need to get in on some of that STR goodness. The sweater is also quite envy-worthy—ah, if only I weren’t up to my elbows in projects!

Socks That Rock is fun. New colorways…oh, I see a decrease in my checking account! I have some vesper yarn that I keep in my stash and I love to look at it and show it off as one of my prized possesions. Can’t hardly wait 🙂

julia – i think you can still get a copy of walker’s book from elann.com – i found out about it from wendy’s blog and checked it out so many times from the library they think i’m nuts, but it’s so great! i keep seeing it at elann and should bite the bullet and buy one. so, if when i go to get it there are no more copies, hopefully it’ll be because you got the last one.
also, if you are interested, i started a KAL for one-skein projects which is helping make our way through our stashes with some cool projects for those special skeins. we’re at http://skeinalong.blogspot.com/
**i’m cheering for the steelers, which is a sin living here in cleveland, but i am a native of PA so they’ll just have to deal with it. take care!

I am so glad you mentioned that Classic Patons Merino pills! I was just about to start Knitty’s Tubey in it, but won’t now thanks to your head’s up!

BTW, I’ve never been to Maryland either but would love to go this year. I’m in Texas so it’ll be a challenge to get there, but where’s there a will…..

You can stay at my house. I live about 1/2 hour away from the MDS&W festival. I went both days last year…Of course, I’d have to charge you yarn for the room….But really, you’re welcome to stay here.
