Remember? You always wanted a

MONKEY!!

Yup, I hopped on the bandwagon. I’m knitting Monkeys. And it’s fun. I knit this Monkey in a week. I know. First I turn out some handspun socks in record time, and now this. I think my needles are magic. Really. I ordered a few new needles from knitpicks, love their classic circs, and the first thing I knitted was the handspun socks. They’re magic, I’m telling ya. It could also be that I usually knit on 2.5mm needles, and these are 2.75, but I think they’re magic.

Anywho, these are for my sockpalooza pal. Lucky pal. After lots of deliberation, and back and forthing about yarn and patterns, I settled on Monkeys. Solid choice, I think. Little bit of lace, they’re nice and light, I’m knitting them in Koigu kpppm. Can’t ever go wrong with Koigu! My pal asked for something not too warm, as she lives in a very warm state, and since Monkeys are the thing right now, I figured who wouldn’t want a pair of Monkeys. So there you go.

Thanks you so much everybody for your fabulous comments on my socks! I so enjoyed the whole process of them. In case you all want to make some too, I ordered a huge huge bump of Superwash Merino Roving to dye up and stock the shop with. You can find them all here. It was very hard not to keep them all for myself. I almost did!

Those are wonderful Monkeys. The yarn is an excellent choice–it’s got some visual interest, but not so much that the pattern disappears. :-)

Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I finished spinning up the BFL I ordered from you in “Pacific,” and am absolutely thrilled. The colors are gorgeous, and the fiber was fantastic. I love it! You can see it here if you’re interested. Beautiful stuff.

Oh, your sock pal will love them! Sadly, I know it’s not me, as Michigan could never be mistaken for a “warm state.”

My daughter knit the Monkey socks, I loved them. IT’s a very cool pattern. I just realized today, that I’ve spun some of your hand painted roving. I’ve got it as a gift, but will send back the yarn to the person who gave me the roving. It says only 10% on it. Did you use BFL for it? It was a 2 oz braided roving. Love the outcome!

I think the knitpicks needles are magic too! I knit blazingly fast with them. I think it’s the extra pointy tips. I *love* them. Love the Monkey sock! I haven’t yet jumped on the bandwagon but I can hear them calling….so soon. And you are right…who doesn’t like a monkey? And in koigu! Gotta love that.
