Two weeks ago on Saturday, I brought my new baby home.
A 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio. I love this little buggy. I’ve wanted a convertable in a bad way since last summer, to have as a summer car. A few weeks age I drove with a friend in his little Mercedes convertable, and the very next day I was out hunting one down for myself. I picked the Cabrio for it’s sporty-ness. It’s a very zippy little car. I had the idea to get a two seater, when both my dad and my sister came up with good reasons against it. Supposedly, insurance is higher, says my sister, and my dad, who can never believe all the baggage I always travel with, asked where I would put all my stuff. Points taken. The Cabrio has a full trunk, and the insurance rate for me was pretty low for 6 months, which is all I’ll need on it anyways, as I’m planning on storing it over the winter. Even though this one is 5 years old, and it’s had 3 previous owners, it only has 40,000 miles on it, and the interior, even though it’s been detailed, is in near perfect condition.
I drove it up to Michigan last week, and I can honestly say it was the best 5 and a half hour drive ever. Ever. While I love my Jeep to pieces, and will never never ever part with it (seriously, my unborn kids will be taking it off to college) the Jeep was given to me by my parents, while the Cabrio, the Cabrio is Earned. And that feels amazingly good.
Louie would like me to take him for a ride. He’s cute.
Congratulations! Drive it well!
Coooool! I love VWs. 🙂
That is one cute little car. I can just picture you tooling around town in it. Have fun!
Congrats!! They are sweet little cars. My friend Jan bought one about two years ago and loves it.
Oh, I LOVED my Rabbit Convertible. (I got mine before they were dubbed Cabrios.) That car was awesome.
It’s so cute!
my old boss, who let me borrow his car all the time, used to have a Cabrio. I [hearted] that car so very much. (Later, he would trade it in for a Forrester, which I loved, and then a Prius, which I also loved. Perhaps I’m easy when it comes to cars; I don’t know, not ever having owned one!)
I love it. But do not EVER take a black car through a gas station car wash. You’ll be shelling out $90 at the local Shur-Brite to get it buffed out. Gas-station-car-wax is terrible … ask me how I know. 🙂 Use the kind where you drive into a bay and spray it instead…and turtle wax. 🙂
Sweet!! I hope you took Louie for a ride, he looks adorable 🙂
Mazel tov! Such a cute car…
Your new baby is just so cute! LOL
congrats!! convertibles are a blast – I used to have a Miata and loved it!
Congrats – Awesome car!! he he, there was a liscense plate on a VW where we used to live “VDUBLUV” – at the time my husband and I had a Golf (him) and a Jetta (me) and we thought it was so cute – “LUV” became the name that we called any VW that we saw on the road “There’s some LUV over there”, and we joked about getting cheesy matching plates “LUVU” and “LUVU2” 🙂
I am a vw adict. I learned to drive on a 73 super beetle who we called Dubbs. When I saved enough to buy my own car I went with a Jetta. I dream of owning a convertable VW Karmann Ghia (produced in the 60s and 70s). Some day…..
Love the new wheels! Enjoy!
