Stealth Weaving

Hi blog! I’ve missed you! So lets get started.

I made one present this last holiday season. Not surprisingly I bet, it was a woven one. It was gifted to my Mum on Christmas to many ohhs and ahhs. She’s a knitter too, and about a year and a half ago, redecorated her kitchen and adjoining living room. From then on whenever I would see her, and on the phone once in awhile, she’d tell me how she needed to find a throw kit in the right colors, to knit for her living room. She likes the Ironstone kits, and also the Colinette ones, and has knit many of them.

I took the hint. In my new found passion for weaving, I decided before Thanksgiving to weave her one. I stole a pillow from the living room (she got pissed thinking the dogs ate it. Hee) and dyed up some warp yarn, and ordered the green mohair from Louet. I had a great time working on this, it went so fast! Done in just 2 evenings.

It measures about 44×70, and because my loom is only about half as wide, I wove two pieces, and sewed them together. I wove it fairly loosely, so the fuzzy mohair wouldn’t cover up the mohair/merino warp. It is warm and cozy, and I already have the yarn for mine! It will have to wait a bit though, I have some knitting in the works, and I’ve been bit once again by the spinning bug. Which is good because I am buying NO YARN in 2008. Stop laughing. No, really!!

And the Winner is…

Muddy Waters
