Airported.

Currently, I’m stuck in the northwest terminal of the Detroit airport, waiting 6 hours for our flight to Amsterdam. Our 3:00 flight was canceled, we were not aware. Although, if you’re going to be stuck in an airport, the northwest terminal of the Detroit airport is a pretty good one to be stuck in.
When our plane finally gets here, it’s a 7:45 minute flight to Amsterdam, then an 8 hour layover, then a 2 hour flight to Barcelona. We’ll be traveling for oh, about 24 hours. When we do finally get to Barcelona, we’ll have just enough time to crash at the hotel, before boarding our ship, for our 12 day Mediterranean cruise.

Totally worth it, I’d say.

The photo above is a mess of lace knitting. Member over a year ago, when I started the Charlotte’s Web Shawl? I decided it was time to be done. I knit 3 full skeins into it, and it had just been sitting around since, so I finished it. It is now blocked, and beautiful. Photos when I get around to it.

Remember? You always wanted a

MONKEY!!

Yup, I hopped on the bandwagon. I’m knitting Monkeys. And it’s fun. I knit this Monkey in a week. I know. First I turn out some handspun socks in record time, and now this. I think my needles are magic. Really. I ordered a few new needles from knitpicks, love their classic circs, and the first thing I knitted was the handspun socks. They’re magic, I’m telling ya. It could also be that I usually knit on 2.5mm needles, and these are 2.75, but I think they’re magic.

Anywho, these are for my sockpalooza pal. Lucky pal. After lots of deliberation, and back and forthing about yarn and patterns, I settled on Monkeys. Solid choice, I think. Little bit of lace, they’re nice and light, I’m knitting them in Koigu kpppm. Can’t ever go wrong with Koigu! My pal asked for something not too warm, as she lives in a very warm state, and since Monkeys are the thing right now, I figured who wouldn’t want a pair of Monkeys. So there you go.

Thanks you so much everybody for your fabulous comments on my socks! I so enjoyed the whole process of them. In case you all want to make some too, I ordered a huge huge bump of Superwash Merino Roving to dye up and stock the shop with. You can find them all here. It was very hard not to keep them all for myself. I almost did!

HandDyed, HandSpun, HandKnit

Somehow, I went from this,

To this,

To these,

In a little less than a week. I don’t know where I found the time, but I couldn’t put these down.
The yarn turned out sport weight, so I knit these on 2.75mm (US 2). So really, these were almost the fastest socks I ever knit. The best part? I spun 6 oz of yarn, and these socks only took 3 oz. Anybody keeping score? That means I have a whole extra skein for more socks, or just whatever. Good, cause I really like this yarn. I love how they stripe kind of like trekking, which I knew would happen, and it’s great.
